Toujins of Edo era

According to "Seiyou zakki" published by Tametsuna Yamanaka in 1656, it was called "No.6 Imitation of Wakebe Toujins" at Tsu Hachiman shrine ceremony, with the following formation.

1. Guard: 2 men with gawn and bamboo stick.
2. Signal pole: 4 Toujins, Signal is 5 golden token with hole beneath.
3. Gun: 2 men
4. 29 Toujins: black costume with yellow stockinet and flat hat.
5. 3 Toujins: with archery
6. Desk & Stool conveyer: 32 men
7. 2 conveyers
8. High class officer with colorful clothe.
9. Sword holder
10. Desk & Stool conveyer
11.Guard: 25 men
12.District leaders: 2 men with 6 shoe arangers.
Total 105 people.

Procession with more than 100 people is far bigger than current one, and there is a big difference between now and then in costume and dance. However, from about 1850, flags and instruments began to be used, and it can be said more similar to current situation. And Toujins in picture roll exhibited in Sekisui museum, shows other style. The General uses palanquin, procession top is Seidou flag, next Keimei flag with dragon embroidery held by several men.
