Ueno-Tenjingu Shrine

This shrine is dedicated to Sugawara no Michizane, a prominent scholar of the late 9th century to the early 10th century. Therefore, it is officially called Sugawara Shrine and is known as a shrine of wisdom. The Ueno Tenjin festival is held annually on October 23 to 25, featuring gorgeous floats and a demon parade.
